Knowledge and Freedom

Practical Philosophy continues after the Introductory Course – The Wisdom Within, with classes that advance and guide students to open their awareness more fully and connect more deeply within themselves. Each Foundation Course covers a single theme that builds on the material introduced in The Wisdom Within. Foundation courses are offered in no particular order, at different times of the year.

The word philosophy means the love of wisdom. In these courses, when we use the word wisdom we are referring to the knowledge that enables us to live a happy and true life. It is to enable us ‘to master the art of living’. This knowledge is not inert or dead. It is not stored in dry and dusty books. It is a living knowledge that is to be found within our own selves.

This foundation course, Knowledge and Freedom, will be offered starting Tuesday, 2nd of Feb 2026. The course consists of one session per week for 10 weeks, on Tuesday evenings from 7:00pm. The cost for this 10-week course is $219.

Enrol online before 30th November by using the promo code “Early Bird” and pay only $199 per person.

About the course

It is through action, devotion and knowledge that the essential nature within everyone may be expressed. They act as channels for this expression.Plato uses the analogy of a ship sailing safely to its destination to illustrate the need for real knowledge of navigation.

Overview

This term we continue to examine freedom through the lens of knowledge. We will consider how knowledge can be of use in giving freedom to ourselves and those
around us, how it can be a service to others.

  • How does knowledge appear? Where does knowledge come from?

  • What is the difference between information and knowledge?

  • How can knowledge be transformative? What is reason and how does it work?
