The School of Philosophy is committed to honest and straightforward dealings in all its affairs. Maintaining the trust and confidence of our customers is our highest priority.
Your personal information is used in order to:
- register you as a learner and allocate staff and resources to provide for your learning and support needs
- administer and manage the services we provide
- contact a person on your behalf in case of an emergency.
Security & Online Purchasing
All web pages on our site including the Shopping Cart & Checkout payment pages are SSL certified and 128 bit encrypted (the current international standard recognised by governments for online security). This means that the information that is sent to and from the server is encrypted. If someone was to intercept your information they would not be able to interpret it. Do note, however, that you still need to protect your own computer from attack by running appropriate anti-virus and firewall software.
Online financial transactions on the website are made and processed directly through Square (the payment gateway), a widely used reputable online payment facility.
You will notice, at all times during the checkout process, a padlock at the top of your browser. This indicates that the connection between your computer and the shopping cart is safe and secure. You will also notice that the shopping cart page URL (the ‘web address’ at the top of the screen) begins with https://, also indicating that this is a security-protected web page.
When you make purchases online through this process, the School of Practical Philosophy Adelaide is given access to your home address, telephone number and email address, but not your credit card information. Your email address is needed so that your receipt can be sent to you. The School of Practical Philosophy Adelaide will never share this information with other parties. Your personal information is safely stored on our system and cannot be accessed by any third party.
Cancellation and Refunds
Students may cancel their enrolment, for any reason, before the end of the second week of term, irrespective of whether they have attended a class. The enrolment fee will be refunded, less a $15.00 administration charge.
Part Completion of a Course
Students who do not substantially complete may attend all classes in the equivalent course in the following term at no extra cost.
The School of Practical Philosophy offers concessions to people who receive an aged pension, a veterans pension, are registered unemployed or full time students. In order to receive the concession students must provide their concession card number or current student number.
Any student enrolled in a course is expected to behave in an appropriate manner and to show respect for fellow students. Any student who disrupts a class will be asked to leave the course.
