Foundation Courses – The Presence of Mind

The Foundation Courses are a follow-on from our Introductory Course and we explore other great themes. These consists of one session per week for 10 weeks. The only pre-requisite is the completion of our Introductory Course. Courses start the week of 25th May 2026 and end the week of 10th August 2026.

Description

Presence of mind is the working surface of practical philosophy. Presence of mind involves a consideration of the faculties of mind that are available to us. We consider questions such as:

  • What does it mean to be really present, now?
  • What are the powers and capabilities of a human being living in the present moment?
  • What is contained in the present moment?
  • Can philosophy work at any other time than in the present?
  • What can be learned from the past to prepare for the future?
